WE ARE CURT BAUER
OUR FAMILY TRADITION
... ART OF WEAVING SINCE 1882
The renowned family business Curt Bauer has been producing luxurious table- and bed linen with high aspiration for quality and aesthetics for 135 years.
At our home location in Aue in the Ore Mountains, a centre of textile traditions and handcrafts, various high end and innovative products are manufactured using the latest Jacquard weaving machines and electronically controlled finishing equipment. The exceptional know-how and passion for this profession have been handed down four generations now.
With an awareness of our roots, we operate and sell as a global German enterprise using different channels of distribution.
Cotton Company Samuel Wolle, founded in Berlin in 1848,
acquires the Geisslersche weaving company,
which existed in Aue since 1867. Alwin Bauer
is assigned with the leadership. The weaver and tradesman
forms the company into an efficient textile business. Around 1900,
the factory owns hundreds of looms as well as complete
finishing and sewing departments.
Alwin’s son Curt Bauer is joint owner and soon
replaces his father as head of company. In the 1930s,
the now world-renowned company is renamed as
After the death of Curt, his sons Alexander and Wolfgang Bauer continue to lead the company.
Alexander Bauer has to accept government shares following historic events. 15 years later, nationalisation takes place. Nevertheless a pronounced solidarity among employees and the owner family remains during GDR times.
The sons of Alexander Bauer grow up in the parental home next to the damask-weaving mill and from that perspective witness the efforts made to rescue the company.
Alexander Bauer makes an application for re-privatisation.
From 1st July the trustee company operates under „Curt Bauer GmbH in development stage” and, after acceptance of the
re-privatisation request, is managed by brothers
Michael and Gert Bauer
as executive partners.
Incorporating the family tradition, company Curt Bauer
stands for family awareness, open-mindedness and
excellent quality. The children of Michael,
Claudia and Ralph Bauer
carry this legacy into the 5th generation.
